Memorial Day 2012

Usually Memorial Day is referred to the unofficial start of summer. Well we have been in 100 degree weather for a bit now, so it was nice that the temps actually DIPPED for Monday's holiday. We had a great time at Cathy and David's house. We ate some good food, had good conversation and took a dip in the pool. Ryan and Austin have been pool regulars, but it was my first time swimming this season. A wee bit chilly, but doable. Austin had a great time playing with Calleigh, like always. It will only be a matter of time before Aidan gets to join in on the fun too.

Holy Blog Update Batman!

I have to admit, not only have I sucked at updating my blog, but I have really sucked at taking pictures anymore. In my defense, two things! 1) Anytime I tried to take pictures of Austin, he grabbed the camera. 2) Austin broke the camera and it vibrates. Yeah, my camera...vibrates! Maybe for my birthday I'll get a new one. Until then I have just been taking pictures on my phone. I check my blog to other friends updating, but I forget to update myself. Well we are in the month of May and May has brought us a lot of fun. To start the month, Ryan and Austin decided they were brave enough to start facing the pool. I think they are nuts, but what can I say? Austin LOVES the pool and I can't wait to get him into swim lessons again. Grandma Barb also bought a fun water mat that Austin had a grand time playing on. It is almost like a hopscotch design and every time you step on it, water squirts up.

My dad's birthday was May 12th and we were planning on going to a baseball game to celebrate. My aunt and uncle from Iowa were going to be coming out to be here for Mother's Day as well. Unfortunately, my dad's aunt passed away the week before. My dad flew back home to go to her funeral and my aunt and uncle decided not to come out until later. We ended up going to the game anyway. It was Ryan Robert's tat sleeve night. Roberts is a baseball player that is known for his tattoos. They refer to him as the Tat-Man. Austin even got his own tatsleeve in kid size!

The following picture doesn't fit into my story, but it is adorable and I had to share. Austin loves to climb in his wagon and while he was in his wagon I told him to go night night. He laid down in his wagon for this picture. He wasn't really sleeping, but cute none the less.

Our May is ending with the end of another school year. The end of THIS school year meant the end of Ryan's youngest sister, Katelyn's, high school career. We were so happy to be able to attend her graduation and help celebrate the wonderful milestone in her life. I don't have any younger siblings, but I have always felt like Kate was my little sister at heart! I can't believe she is a high school graduate, I met the girl when she was in 6th Grade!!! Her graduation party is this weekend, hopefully I'll remind to take pictures and blog. :-)

And finally, Austin got another hair cut. This was hair cut number 5. His hair grows so quickly it is insane. I took a picture yesterday in his new swim suit last night and then TRIED to get a picture of his hair today.

Playing in Puddles

Ryan has been working on redong our backyard and the other night he was watering it. Austin decided he needed to be part of the fun so him and Max were jumping in the puddles and getting soaking wet. Of course it was all fun and games until we made him come inside. This boy sure loves the water.

Catching Up and Spring Training Baseball

So I have come to the realization that we either don't do things anymore or I have just stopped taking pictures. I check the blogs I follow everyday, but I never update mine. Of course, it isn't like I have any followers, but it is all good.

Austin turned 18 months at the beginning of March. I can't believe he is halfway through his second year of life. He is growing up so quickly and learning new words everyday. His favorites right now are uh oh and no. He gets plenty of pratice with no!

Yesterday we went to a Spring Training Dbacks game. It was really warm out, but the shade hit us about the third or fourth inning and then it was pretty nice. It must have been nice for Austin too because he fell asleep on my mom during the second inning and slept for another an hour. Yeah, at home he wakes up if I sneeze, but he can sleep at a baseball game? Totally makes sense..right?

Park Time!

It has been SO warm this last week and we have been taking full advantage of it. On Monday and Friday, Austin stays home with me. So to get out of the house, I took him to the park over lunch those days. He loves to play, he can even climb up the stairs and go down the slide all by himself. I wish it was a LITTLE closer to the park, but it isn't like I don't need the walk. I just wish he didn't throw such a fit when it was time to leave.

Barrett Jackson Car Show 2012

The three of us went up to Scottsdale for the Barrett Jackson Car Auction this past weekend. We went last year when Austin was just four months old, so he seemed to be more interactive this time. He got to walk around a bit, but was mostly in his stroller. We tried some great turkey legs they had there! Austin was so adorable, when Ryan asked him if he wanted a car, he would pointing and go, "yep." With his taste, he better have a good job when he gets older.

See that Sold sign? Yeah, he just kept betting on it

King of his Domain

Grandma and Grandma Streit got Austin a slide, castle, climbing thing for Christmas. Well it came in a large box and it took awhile to assemble and well, eventually we finally got the backyard ready and it put together. First Ryan flattened out an area in our yard and used rubber mulch to to make it softer and more play friendly. It then took a bit of time to put together, but Austin was more than willing to help. Austin loves being in the backyard and does throw little tantrums when he can't go play, but he will eventually learn that he can't always play.
We were having fun even without it together!

The area in the yard that Ryan put mulch on

It was so cute, right when Ryan started to screw a piece in, Austin grabbed the same piece to help.

Getting ready to slide down!
Goodness I cannot believe how fast he is growing up. The other day he was out on the slide and he stopped halfway down to climb back up..oh boy!

In unrelated news, we finally had to move Austin's crib down to the final level. I really hope we don't have to think about toddler bed until he's two!
